Container makes a move in Shanghai

The precision of dead reckoning does not allow one to definitely say where the container is, but it provides enough information to indicate that it may no longer be ship-bound and is possibly on a truck at the moment.

Icon on bottom of picture (above) indicates approximate current location while icon on top (best seen when picture is clicked for higher resolution) represents where the container and its first cargo arrived in Shanghai.

It is possible that the container is one mile away from its apparent location (even though consumer-grade GPS has an error of only about 50 feet or less) and it might in fact be in the container terminal indicated above (white arrow) and not the dead reckoned BBC icon above it.  Difficult to tell though since the container might be loading, unloading or just parked off-site.

The container terminal pictured above has numerous names that appear related to each shipper or consortium.  A portion of the loading dock is pictured below.

Regardless of the precision in pinpointing its location, the BBC News container (The Box) appears to be making progress toward its next journey, from Shanghai to the United States some time early in November. More details to follow of course.
